The fitted drawer was a challenge in working in the miniature. All of the small drawer blades and vertical partitions are 1/4” mahogany and all of the joints for these partitions, including both the stopped dados and the 30 degree mitered dados, were cut entirely by hand using only paring chisels, a marking knife, and a router plane. The front profile of the small drawers follows the same block front design of the whole piece. The drawer sides and bottoms are quatersawn sycamore, and are a deviation from the original pine. Its shimmer is a subtle surprise.
